    Peace And Love Interruptus

Today is the anniversary of Woodstock. Woodstock opened today in 1969. Two dozen bands came to play on a wooden stage in the middle of a pasture. It was a happening unlike any other before it ... and, probably like none after. 450,000 people formed a love-in for three days and nights. Jimi Hendrix was there, Joan Baez, and Arlo Guthrie, too. Country Joe and the Fish, Santana, Crosby, Stills and Nash. Jefferson Airplane, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Who, and so many more. There were hippies, and bikers, Viet Nam war vets, and high school kids ... college kids and college grads, longhaired and short, young and old ... and the world watched and joined in through the magic of the media.
Wouldn't it be nice to have everyone just chill? To let people be who they wanted to be without forcing people into a mold? To let people have the freedom to reach for the stars - to be the best they can be. To have the freedom to strive for there dreams - maybe even achieve them and more? My love and I enjoyed some Greek cuisine in downtown Eugene last night, and walked less than two blocks to a free hip-hop event (The Alliance) going on - very nice (and the group was very good).
We could have that - but there are dark forces that don't like such freedoms. That think we have too many freedoms. They think we should all be corralled into some religious form with women wearing burkas and enslaved to the superior males (so they think). They blow up anyone that doesn't conform, children are their favorite prey - it's their way or the grave way. Infiltration mode is their present modus operandi - blend in, become like their enemy, turn their enemy against themselves.
Dark forces inside our ranks push to limit our freedoms, to clip our dreams, to make us feel guilty for the atrocities of others - guilt is their motivation, capitulation is their goal.
Give in, you're no better than anyone else and you don't deserve anything better
they repeat in our ears. The dark forces are really good, it's the USA that is evil - as they neglect those bits of women and children in the air, tribute to their companions of hate. Their ignorant followers they have plenty - they even post here. Liberals think they have a monopoly on the concepts of peace and love, but they have only perverted and exploited peace and love for the oppression of the population.
Now where is my Creedence CD….

Don't forget Richie Havens. He opened the show.

Your post is taken as hapless satire. It's an art form you should avoid - your skills are deficient.

You and your kind have no interest in peace or love, or getting along. You celebrate George 'Baby Killer' Bush's assault on the entire planet, and his government inspired intolerance of dissent. You are complicit to war crimes and the state sponsored terrorism of the Bush administration.

This post seals it for me. You are stark raving mad! You wax eloquently about the exploits of the most liberal generation on record and then somehow try to connect it to the current conservative agenda. There is NO connection. They are complete opposites.

The hippies opposed the Vietnam War, often utilizing civil disobedience (something you detest) to make their point. Many lived in communes (sort of like commu-nism). They promoted the ideal of PEOPLE before profit; capitalism extolls PROFIT before people. The spoke out loudly against hierarchy and patriarchy. Many of them practiced non-Christian religions like Buddhism, Paganism, Hinduism, and even Taoism. Some eschewed religion altogether for transcendental (spelling?) mediation and yoga.

Hopefully, anonymous is right and this merely is a poor attempt at satire. If not, then please -- for your own health and that of your family -- visit a psychiatrist or psychiatric social worker. They can help you get a grasp on reality.

Liberals like to think they have some monopoly on wanting peace and love, when it is really the liberals that promote oppression.

While conservatives seem to be willing to wipe out the child killers in Iraq the liberals find this offensive.

While conservatives try to enable the parents of the less-than-wealthy to have much better education choices via vouchers, enabling poorer children to go to private schools like the children of Kennedy and Jessie Jackson - the liberals keep the oppression on by forcing and restricting any choice they might have.

For a liberal to try to come across as someone representing the people is a joke. For a liberal to try to claim they promote freedom is a joke. For a liberal to even suggest they want harmony is a joke.

NOTE: A couple of previous comments were deleted because of name calling by immature posters and my comment section is not to copying/pasting miles of lyrics.

' ... conservatives seem to be willing to wipe out the child killers in Iraq the liberals find this offensive ...'

It is the American and British, who invaded a sovereign country that posed no danger to their respective countries, and who now occupy Iraq. It is THEY who are the child-killers. Is is they who torture, bomb, destroy hospitals, entire towns. You need a large dose of the reality in Iraq.

Fortunately, Americans are finally in huge numbers realizing that this war was an illegal terrorist action, and that we were all lied to by George Bush and his administration. It is only the most blindly loyal followers who do not now see through the grand lies and deception.

Well put whymrhymer, thank you. Yes, it's becoming easier and easier to identify that liberal BS isn't it? LOL

As you say, the majority of that era grew out of the myths and realized if you wanted a better life you would have to be driven to attain it on your own and not assume it would be handed to you for doing little of anything.

Those that never figured that out are on a few street corners of Eugene and elsewhere I'm sure. I give them nothing - the path they chose was of their own choosing. The lack of incentive they chose was of their own choosing. Yeah, I partied back then, but I also had a job, went to school, and did something about my life - my choice.

You infer that conservatives are all about PEACE and LOVE and then you write, "While conservatives seem to be willing to wipe out the child killers in Iraq". Please, point out where the belief in PEACE or LOVE is contained in the above sentence.

BTW, why did you delete my effort to highlight some of the lyrics from some of the songs performed at Woodstock? What are you afraid of?

It's sort of like a doctor removing cancer from a patient. Going under the knife causes some pain and suffering but the long term goals are to remove that which would have consumed the healthy body. You, an admitted pacifist, would not understand the concept.

I'm afraid of comments so long and boring that my readers will stop reading all the comments. Instead of placing key words or phrases you chose to copy/paste several large compilations. These lyrics are available online so in the future you can post links to the lyrics if you want. I think any comments longer than my post are too big-winded and take up too much space.

It's my blog and if you don't like my comment management then don't come back. Simple, huh? You are a guest in my domain, and I don't run a socialist domain and I have the final word when and where I wish. I don't know if you've noticed but some of the post comments have been retired with YOU having the final word.

Ah -- the power of the blog! LOL - My recommendations? If anyone has a problem with my blog then don't come back! But oh my, over 14,650 visitors and my little 'ole blog isn't even a year old. Hee hee
