    Democrats Are Exempt

Talk about abusing the system, Louisiana congressman William Jefferson, a Democrat, used (abused) state and federal resources for his own personal benefit. Just 5 days after Katrina hit this greedy Democrat - a representative of New Orleans and a senior member of the Ways and Means Committee - used his position to have National Guard resources take him to his house.
Diverting a 5-ton military truck, half dozen military police, and tying up a desperately needed helicopter for at least 45 minutes just so he could check on his up-scale home and retrieve some property (something ordinary citizens were not able to do), this liberal wimp didn't even want to step in the water at his house so he had the vehicle pull up onto the front lawn so he could jump onto the porch.
    From this eye-witness account:
According to a military source familiar with the incident. "The vehicle pulled up onto the front lawn" of the affluent William Jefferson's home "so that he wouldn't have to walk in the water." Jefferson -- the affluent William Jefferson, Democrat, Louisiana -- went to his house alone in the affluent neighborhood, the source says, "while soldiers waited on the porch for about an hour, while [Congressman William Jefferson (D-LA)] from an affluent neighborhood in New Orleans, was inside his home for one hour. Finally, according to the source, Democrat Congressman William Jefferson, Louisiana, emerged from his affluent neighborhood home with a laptop computer, three suitcases, and a box about the size of a small refrigerator, which the enlisted men loaded up into the truck.
So while rescuers were trying to save the people left in New Orleans, their own Democrat Representative basically said Screw all you poor idiots - I've got my own crap to save - and he did just that, using scarce emergency resources to do so. Oh yeah - not only is this asshole a Democrat but he is black. Now who really is shunning the poor black folk in New Orleans? If liberals wanted to get their hands on solid proof of discrimination, here it is - one of their own.
To the never ending liberals casting suspicion on major contractors getting no-bid contracts I'd like to mention this little fact. One (of many) corporate entities getting large amounts of monies (our tax money) from the government is The Shaw Group. The whiners think most people will just lump them together with Halliburton or the like - but I'm here to help enlighten you.
    The
Shaw Group, multi-billion-dollar conglomerate, is headed by Jim Bernhard, the current chairman of the Louisiana Democratic Party. Bernhard worked tirelessly for Democrat Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco's runoff campaign and served as co-chair of her transition team. Another Shaw executive was Blanco's campaign manager. Gee - a little bit of fact they seemed to have left out!
    From The Federalist.com site:
"The powerful winds and flood waters of Katrina tore away the mask that has hidden from public view the many Americans who are left out and left behind. As one nation under God, we cannot continue to ignore the injustice, the inequality and the gross disparities that exist in our society." —Sen. Ted Kennedy

(You mean the disparity between a rich Kennedy escaping a submerged car and a poor intern being left behind?)
