    Are You Connected Yet?

    Are You Connected Yet?

I liked the Matrix movie series. I liked the concept of people breaking free of the comfy illusion of safety and security and living their own lives, making their own choices, creating their own future.

When I was listening to President Bush speak this morning about the pandemic possibly coming to American I have to wonder if his speech made people feel safer. I lost count of how many times the word pandemic was used - obviously with the intention to emphasize the potential seriousness of a infectious outbreak.

Tied with this morning's speech was the memory of just weeks ago when liberals twisted responsibility for Katrina from individuals (i.e., evacuating with plenty of knowledge before hand, having insurance, etc.) to the Federal government - with the president being the figurehead. At first I thought it was just another anti-Bush strategy on their part, but I was thinking too simplistic. Liberals have always wanted bigger government and more dependency on that big government.

It would have been perfectly adequate for someone from the CDC (Center for Disease Control) to have gone before the public since that is their specialty. No, the present and future is that the Federal government makes us feel safe, well fed, happy, and secure. The federal government will control the retirement for most (except President Bush was trying to restore choice and options to the individual - much to the discontentment of liberals), will give us new houses in case we didn't buy enough or any insurance, will take care of our health, will make sure we get money whether or not we earned it, will give us the illusion of happiness, the illusion of well being.

In the mean time, 12 tips to prevent cold and flu - without the federal government (oh my, is it possible?):
    1. Wash Your Hands
    2. Don't Cover Your Sneezes and Coughs With Your Hands
    3. Don't Touch Your Face
    4. Drink Plenty of Fluids
    5. Take a Sauna
    6. Get Fresh Air
    7. Do Aerobic Exercise Regularly
    8. Eat Foods Containing Phytochemicals
    9. Eat Yogurt
    10. Don't Smoke
    11. Cut Alcohol Consumption
    12. Relax
Are you connected yet, or dare you care for yourself?
