    2008 - A Year Of Stupidity - 16 Days Left

Yesterday's Parade Magazine, article title Who Gets U.S. Foreign Aid, summarizes the top 10 nations the US politicians are pumping our hard earned money into. These figures are just for 2008!
    • Israel - $2.5 BILLION - Increases over the next 10 years to at least $3 BILLION / year
    • Egypt - $1.7 BILLION - yeah, like America is not giving them enough money for oil - a total waste of American's money down the toilet and nothing to show for it
    • Pakistan - $798 MILLION - these people are playing America for fools, and STUPID Liberals keep pouring our money into this Muslim nation that hates everything about the USA - except our $$$
    • Jordan - $688 MILLION - WTF? Can someone please tell me what we get for this?
    • Kenya - $586 MILLION - and most of this, $501 MILLION, is "to fight HIV/AIDS". WTF! What a total waste of the hard working American's taxes - and absolutely nothing to show for this - NOTHING! Everyone with HIV/AIDS should be quarantined, those with the virus contained to stop the spread. Instead, the liberals want to pretend these infected zombies are worthy of our $$$ and sympathy - money down the toilet - STUPID
    • South Africa - $574 MILLION - most to "fight" TB and HIV/AIDS. Same applies here as for Kenya - STOP THE INSANITY
    • Mexico - $551 MILLION - WTF? Mexico should be paying tribute to the USA for absorbing all their scum that flows illegally across our boarder. Millions are allocated against terrorism and to fight WMDs - WTF! Mexico is a primary pipeline for terrorists, WMDs, drugs, and scum into the USA - and the politicians in America is giving them over half BILLION bucks each year? STUPID!
I can't go on - too much STUPIDITY from the liberal elements of D.C. - while the US economy is going down the toilet Liberals in their anti-American pro-global agenda continue to rape our country.

It will get far worse with Mr. Africa in the White House - heck, Barack Obamao is already planning to pump at least $2 BILLION into government controlled schools in other countries!

You know their lines, lies, and motivation-by-guilt -- so better open your mind to handing over your hard-earned $ for the special interests of compassionate Liberals.

And it will continue in grand fashion after January 20.

All hail Comrade Obama, protector of all countries outside the U.S, the UN, and the unions, and oppressor of the common people of the U.S.!

    Here's some historical context:

United States foreign aid has not changed significantly since 2004. If 2008 has been a year of stupidity then 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007 were also years of stupidity.

In 2004 we added the funds to fight world wide HIV/AIDS. This was spearheaded by Bush and authorized by the Republican controlled congress.

Since the end of World War II, United States foreign aid spending dropped more or less steadily until 2001 when it jumped up for a few consecutive years. The reasons for this were the buying of support for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and the HIV/AIDS related funds. All of this happened under Bush and the Republican controlled congress.

The spending by a Liberal Congress, including liberal RINOs (Republicans In Name Only) has been horrid.

You are wrong with "United States foreign aid has not changed significantly since 2004" - and the past 2 years under a Democrat controlled congress and the future 4 years with a more liberal socialist (by his own admission) president will easily eclipse what I've posted.

The HIV/AIDS wasted money was started by the homosexual lobby putting pressure on Democrats. Unfortunately some RINOs traded their vote for this wasted $$$ in exchange for support for some of their programs.

Liberals (on either side) love it - it gives them a warm fuzzy feeling without caring about the pain of the American taxpayer.

With a new administration and a continued liberal-controlled congress we can see if they will increase their stupidity or stop it.

justadog: You are wrong with "United States foreign aid has not changed significantly since 2004"

What are the foreign aid numbers that would lead you to think this? The "Parade" article that you originally quoted from only had values from 2008? Have you looked at the historic numbers?

Just to make it clear that my previous comment was not some kind of "trick", I should have mentioned that I *do* have numbers for historic foreign aid (which I will post soon) and they do not indicate that United States foreign aid has changed significantly since 2004. You've already said that I am wrong though and if you have data that confirms this I would like to know what it is.

In my definition of foreign aid is any money or services or materials provided to any nation outside of the USA.

With that you need to consider everything - my post just mentioned a very tiny part of the outrageous give-away. Some more little pieces that add to the whole:

    > Military material aid
    > Military training aid
    > Direct food aid
    > Food for peace programs
    > Debt forgiveness
    > Balance-of-payments support
    > Project assistance
    > Population planning programs
    > Training programs
    > Economic revival programs
    > Anti-poverty programs
    > Climate change programs
    > LOTS more.....

Some programs are perpetual handouts, some new. Obama will most definitely increase money to the UN and even as a Senator pushed through his "Global Poverty Act":

The legislation would commit the U.S. to spending 0.7 percent of gross national product on foreign aid, which amounts to a phenomenal 13-year total of $845 billion over and above what the U.S. already spends.

That is just 1 program - he has lots more. Get your wallet open.

We have the same definition of foreign aid. I agree that the "Parade" article that you quoted from left things out. Do you have any numbers that indicate that foreign aid *has* changed significantly since 2004?

If you wish to continue to disagree with my post it is YOU that needs to document why I am wrong and you are right.

You will also have to clarify what you think "significantly" is - $1 or a trillion?

I've already posted and commented my view so now you can produce your evidence that less has flowed from the US than the past.

justadog: If you wish to continue to disagree with my post it is YOU that needs to document why I am wrong and you are right.

I never did disagree with your post. I provided some historical context - none of which contradicted what you originally wrote. If I *had* said anything that disagreed with your post I would have backed it up.

You responded by saying that my historical context was wrong and I asked why you thought so. It's a reasonable question. I'm not even disagreeing with you here. I'm just wondering if you have any documentation that indicates that I am incorrect. If you do, I would genuinely be interested in seeing it. You've responded twice now and neither time have you answered ( or even tried to answer ) my question.

justadog: I've already posted and commented my view so now you can produce your evidence that less has flowed from the US than the past.

What I said was: "United States foreign aid has not changed significantly since 2004." I did not say that "less has flowed from the US than the past."

Here's a graph of the U.S. government funds spent on foreign aid from 1983 to the present. Values are adjusted for inflation. Inflation adjustments are to 2006 dollars.

You can see that from 2004 to 2008, the values went from just over 36 billion to just under 40 billion. That's what I mean by "not a significant change" - about 10% rise in 4 years.

From 2001 to 2004 , the values went from just over 20 billion to just over 36 billion. That's a significant change - more than 75% increase in just 3 years.

The numbers up to 2006 come from this government publication .

The 2007 and 2008 numbers come from this state department publication . The 2008 values are state department estimates.

Sorry - your graph is totally worthless since the origins of those values are not known (not the source, but what it includes).

Your 2nd reference after "The numbers up to 2006 come" are generalizations - again not worth much when one wants to address the real (full) expenditures.

Your last reference is from the State Dept. and they have their own budget for handouts - and again, lacks a huge amount of give-aways.

You presented a fraction of what has been given out. Keep digging - check all government branches, military branches, Congressional payments (direct), forgiven loans (that are actually paid off with tax payer $$$), etc.

The picture is bigger than you can imagine - and it has been growing and will continue to grow.

The numbers up to 2006 come from a government publication called the Greenbook

The Greenbook says it shows "a complete historical record of United States' (U.S.) foreign aid to the rest of the world by reporting all loans and grants authorized by the U.S. Government for each fiscal year."

The State Department report basically documents for 2007 & 2008 the same loans & grants that the Greenbook documents for 2006 & earlier. The 2008 values are estimates of course since 2008 is not over yet.

Both the state department report and the Greenbook have very detailed itemization of what is included in these values and what counties the aid is distributed to. My goal was not to include every detail but to summarize the big picture. If you want details, go to the sources that I provided. The details are there.

If you think the sources understate the true expenditures, that's fine. What do you think the true expenditures have been and where do you get your information? I asked you this repeatedly before posting the summary. The reason that I asked you for this information was so that if you actually had anything I could account for it in the values that I was posting. So far your only source is the Sunday Supplement, "Parade".

Did you read the text of the bill ? If you do you'll find that there's no monetary commitment there at all.

Lies about the "Global Poverty Act" are all over the internet. You should fact check before repeating them.

In the 2004 State of the Union Address, President Bush called for $15 billion to fight HIV/AIDS abroad.

Congress responded by passing H.R.1298 which authorized 3 billion a year for 5 years to fight HIV/AIDS and malaria. In the House of Representatives, 185 Republicans voted for this resolution and only 40 voted against it.. The Republican controlled Senate passed the bill by voice vote so the specific votes are not recorded. President Bush, of course, signed the bill.

In other words, "some RINOS" includes almost all of the Republican Representatives in 2003 and President Bush too.
