Talk is cheap and actions speak louder than words. For decades oil companies both domestic and international (Arab) have manipulated the governments to perpetuate their greed. It's time to finally kiss this industry Auf Wiedersehen.

Consumers need to do what government has failed to do - force the auto manufacturers to leave the combustion age and go all electric. Forget those hybrid vehicles and ethanol losers (that just drive up grain prices) - 100% electric is the way to truly reduce oil dependency (and screw the oil companies!). Just a couple of examples:

If you drive locally (about 50 miles a day) you will soon have an inexpensive option for transportation without ever having to pay a penny for Arab (or anyone else's) gas. The Tara Tiny sells for $2,450 in India (manufactured in India) and will soon come to the USA - a totally electric car. It seats 2 people and can be recharged overnight. At a max speed of 31 MPH you can't take it on the freeway but around town you can laugh in the knowledge you broke the chains of the gas company around your neck.

In Italy the Bolloré and Pininfarina companies formed a 50-50 joint venture to manufacture their own totally electric car. Their car will seat 4 and have a battery to provide 155 miles of city driving and a max speed of 80 MPH. Oh those Italians!

Subaru will begin selling an electric car, the R1e, next year in Japan with a range of 50 miles per charge. What's cool about their car is the batteries can be recharged to 80% in just 8 minutes!

Also in Japan, Mitsubishi has developed their iMiEV - a 4 door that can go 80 miles on a full charge, takes 7 hours to totally charge (at 220 volts) and has a top speed of about 80 MPH.

Dodge might come out with ZEO - an all electric, 4 passenger, 2+2 sport wagon. Range is expected to be about 250 miles with a 0-60 mph time of less than 6 seconds. Sorry - just a concept car for now.

American auto makers lack incentives to accelerate full electric car development.

Instead of providing incentives for private industry to accelerate development of electric cars president wanna-be Barack Obama wants to start draining the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve to help (in his melon mind) lower prices.

Ok class, can anyone think of why our country might have a STRATEGIC Petroleum Reserve? Is any intelligent reader of this blog convinced it must be a reserve so a politician can get brownie points for temporarily manipulating prices? This idiot is getting scary. If he was really concerned with lower prices then simply have him and his Democrat cronies remove all (local and federal) taxes from gas for the next five years. Don't count on any lower taxes from Democrats - won't ever happen. If anything you will probably be charged more tax for contributing to global warming - the progressive party's scam of the century.

Want Real Financial Security?

A couple of days ago the Federal Reserved pumped $280 billion into global markets and later that day the DJIA closed over 400 points. This fake stimulus trickery didn't last long - with the DJIA loosing for the next two days. The real reason for that unprecedented move was out of fear a large US bank was in trouble - Bear Sterns - and the move to stave off its collapse.

A large part of financial woes in America - including job loss, falling dollar, trade deficit, etc. - can be resolved almost overnight by implementing just a few steps:

• Overturn about 90% of the government mandates, rules, regulations, constraints, and other bureaucracy forced on businesses. In other words, allow business to do what they do best without government interference.
• Stop 90% of the outpouring of US dollars to other countries and give them the chance to take care of themselves without interference from the US government.
• End the power grasp of unions that force businesses into an uncompetitive position which inevitably forces businesses to shift labor to other countries or even causes the demise of the business.
• Stop the Islamic war - you know, that one in Iraq where US taxpayers are spending (against their will) $275 million EACH DAY to fight not for freedom, but for one Islamic sect vs. another Islamic sect.
• Cut taxes by 50% - easy if the above steps were implemented. People can't spend money they don't have, even if government sends out checks of play money.
  

Do these steps and business will pull their outsourced jobs back to the US so fast there might not be enough workers; the dollar will soar on the global market, and the USA will once again be a financial powerhouse.

However, I don't expect any of the above to happen - big government doesn't like to become smaller government and the stupid voters in the USA don't seem to care as their focus is Democrat vs. Republican.

The game is fixed. Voters had a chance for real change but in ignorance they cry for bigger and bigger government, thinking in their ignorance that government will help them.

The truth is: out of control government is the problem.

I had intended to expand on the billions of our taxpayer monies just being given to oil producing nations, Muslim nations, and other foreign sink holes with a post yesterday but after just scratching the surface of how politicians throw money at everyone except Americans - whose money it is to begin with - It all just made me sick.

Like why should I bother pointing this stuff out when people keep electing these idiots, these liberal spenders of other people's money? Let me put it this way - when your bills come due and you're making minimum payments you can be happy your liberal Republican and liberal Democrat politicians have been busy giving YOUR money away.

It's become a daily barf session seeing BIG GOVERNMENT's increasing stronghold on Americans - from our wallets to what we wear to sex toys. Yep - sex toys.

The BIG GOVERNMENT of the state of Alabama (Red, Republican) dictated a double whammy, first making it illegal for a business to sell a sex toy and second, making it illegal for a private citizen to purchase a sex toy.

Sherri Williams, owner of Pleasures stores in Huntsville and Decatur, said she was disappointed, but plans to sue again on First Amendment free speech grounds:

Business owners in Alabama had asked the U.S. Supreme Court to throw out the law as an unconstitutional intrusion into the privacy of the bedroom, but the justices made the choice not to hear the case. In other words, BIG GOVERNMENT at the federal level agreed with BIG GOVERNMENT at the state level that BIG GOVERNMENT has the authority to control what people buy, what people sell, and what can be used by the citizenry in their private lives.

The Supreme Court said BIG GOVERNMENT states can legislate morality. I consulted with that rarely used document - the U.S. Constitution. I did word searches and close reads. Nowhere did I find the Constitution giving BIG GOVERNMENT states (or any government level) authority to define and/or legislate morality. If the people of a state voted for such a thing then it might fly, but they didn't.

I have not heard any of the pompous candidates, Republican or Democrat, comment on such intrusive dictates of BIG GOVERNMENT - probably because they all drool at helping to make BIG GOVERNMENT even more intrusive.

All except one - and that's why I've now posted the top-right banner for my support of Ron Paul. He seems to be the only one with a clue of what is happening to the American people (along with millions of citizens that are joining him - as I have).

I Was Forced To

Poor disgraced Democrat Dan Rather, now he's telling the world that his sincere apology was faked and CBS forced him to apologize. Poor Democrat Dan Rather - he's sad and wants to die with a reputation that he never really had - so he will sue CBS.

What's with all these police tortures making the news? We have police tasering a student after he's down on the ground and surrounded - electrocuted just because he's speaking and they ordered him not to speak. He was tortured with high voltage and he posed no threat - he was surrounded and on the ground and held down by police. I hope this student sues to the max.

NOTE: Democrat Senator Kerry could have stopped the incident easily, but he just stood there like a limp noodle. Then a couple of weeks ago (saw the video this morning) we have seen video of police kicking a woman to the ground and using their taser gun to torture her. I think if I was being shocked and I wasn't doing anything threatening I'd be inclined to fight back. This woman posed no threat to the officer and I hope she sues to the max.

Then in Tustin, CA sheriff's whipped out their torture gun and tortured an Autistic 15-year-old. Why? Because he was running in and out of traffic after leaving a social services center. They could have stopped traffic temporarly and just grabbed him, but it's easier to whip out that taser.

Then police got tough - against a 56 year old woman - IN A WHEEL CHAIR - by whipping out their taser to not only torture her, but killed her. You mean to tell me police couldn't subdue a wheel chair bound woman? Guess it's more fun to taser. Hope the family of this poor woman sues to the max.

Well here's another excuse for FAT people to use instead of their own hand-to-mouth action. A study (supposedly) finds a virus may contribute to obesity. Note the title and the use of the word "may".

I've done my own study and can say with certainty that calories don't come from breathing, but they do come from eating more than you expend in physical activity.

The reality of these so-called studies is the goal of labeling obesity as a disease. Once it's a disease then drug companies and hospitals will have revenue streams they can't enjoy now. Hundreds of thousands will be walking into clinics, waddle up to the counter, and say "I'm fat, and I need pills". Government handouts become available to "diseases" than non-diseases. Now go enjoy that buffet.

Demanded By Government

Dictionary.reference.com gives the following definition of a tax:

a sum of money demanded by a government for its support or for specific facilities or services, levied upon incomes, property, sales, etc.

Were you one of the suckers that believed the lies of liberals and their claim that conservatives protect the rich from taxes? Not only is that lie but the truth is liberals put such outrageous demands on the mid and low income workers that many are finding it more difficult to meet their families needs.

The other day I get a notice from our trash company. The county government (liberal, of course) is increasing their fees. Now this is the same Lane County government that tried to invoke a county income tax but failed - thanks to some sharp people that got it on the ballot and subsequently was voted down. So what's the liberal government to do? RAISE FEES, of course!

The increase won't bother me but what about lower income families that are barely getting by? Liberals give them the shaft. Liberals use to be called the "tax and spend" political group. Yesterday's post - liberals - using taxpayers money to "bail out" people that bought more than they could afford.

Thanks to a liberal controlled congress students will soon loose the ability to deduct their student loan interest if they make over a certain amount each year. Again, liberals socking it to the mid and low income people (hint: rich folks don't need student loans).

We recently had the local liberal government of Eugene try and raise the cost of gas with another one of their taxes. The liberal government didn't care about taxing the mid and low income people, but a group of gas station owners did care - and they stopped those evil money-hungry liberals - for now.

Then you have these liberal candidates promising to really screw the mid and low income worker with threats to place big taxes on oil companies. Ah - sort of brings back those good ole days when liberal Democrat (worse) President Jimmy Carter stuck his Crude Oil Windfall Profits Tax - then tada - gas lines, rationing, etc. - none of which did anything with the rich, but really wrecked havoc on the little people. (Carter also bolstered the Social Security system by introducing a staggered increase in the payroll tax.)

Let's look at a liberal state - Vermont. I went to the page for their governor and no surprise - this fool is bragging about all the tax payer money he's giving away. Grants, $9.4 Million for wasted drug prevention programs, various tax credits, and it goes on and on about his generosity - with other people's money. I guess that's why Vermont is #1 in the list of state and local tax burdens - 14%. When you add it the ugly federal tax burden they top the list at 35.1%.

Check where your state is at in the list here. Oh, and if you're not near the top don't worry - if you continue to elect liberals you will be!

The equation remains the same:

Liberals = BIG GOVERNMENT
BIG GOVERNMENT = BIG TAXES + FEES

Conservatives = smaller government
Smaller government = lower taxes, lower fees

No Liberal Surprises Here

Some Democrats want to use taxpayer money to bail out home owners that, by their own choice and doing, got themselves in a jam with "creative" home mortgages.

For example:

Some Democrats want to help many of these unfortunate souls by having government refinance their loans. Ohio has led several other states in starting such programs.

Now if you're a renter just think of it - your tax dollar going to help bail out people that made the choice to go with risky mortgages. Are you happy to do that? Or do you think adults should be responsible for themselves?

So yesterday I get this unsolicited (junk) email from some Democrat by the name of Jeff Merkley. It's a pitch to solicit money from Oregonians or whoever. I thought I'd pass it through some analysis since politicians, especially liberals, speak with a forked tongue. Let me translate into reality some of his email:

Merkley: "I began my life in the small town…".
Translation: I have no qualifications so consider that I appear humble, don't I?

Merkley: "My father passed away earlier this year, and now my wife Mary and I are trying…".
Translation: Hey - the sympathy card worked for John Edwards!

Merkley: "Oregon needs a new Senator who will work with our senior Senator, Ron Wyden…".
Tranlation: I will be a party puppet and have no brain of my own. My priority is my party, not you little people.

Merkley: "Congress should pass a commonsense plan to ensure that all Americans -- young and old, rich and poor -- receive quality health care."
Translation: I will push for socialized health care for everyone - legal or illegal. If you have a doctor now you be forced into the government system - no choice. We will support this with higher taxes, more fees, and no deductions for anything.

Merkley: "You can count on me to help launch a strong federal effort to make the switch to clean, renewable energy, and halt our headlong rush toward destructive climate change."
Translation: I'm a bonified Gorist and will raise taxes on gas and oil companies so high and bring back those lines at the gas pump you will wish you had a solar powered bike. You little people should be using public transportation anyway.

Merkley: "Oregon needs a new U.S. Senator who will bring a real passion to the job. A passion for tax fairness…"
Translation: "The more you apply yourself to get ahead, the greater I will tax you".

Merkley: "…public education and for helping ordinary, everyday Oregonians achieve their aspirations and make their dreams come true."
Translation: I will embrace bigger government to pay for more of your college and university education. You won't have to get a job and be responsible for yourself, I'll just raise taxes and fees from everyone else. You will be discouraged from attending private schools - it will be bigger government schools for all.

Merkley: "I believe we can put the public interest before the special interests in our nation's capital again. I've spent my career in Oregon fighting for what matters for regular working families."
Translation: I'm a union puppet and most every union in Oregon endorses me.

Merkley: "Now, I'm ready to continue that fight in the U.S. Senate."
Translation: I'm a union puppet, bought by the unions, and will vote for all pro-union legislation.

Merkley: "But I will fight for ordinary working families…"
Translation: But I won't give you freedom to choose where your child goes to school - you must send them to government schools. I will discourage you from being responsible for yourself, and will make you dependent on bigger government.

Merkley: "I hope you'll join me as we kick off a campaign for new leadership in the U.S. Senate."
Translation: I'll bring in the same old socialist tactics that will make government BIGGER, take away more rights, and force more regulations and edicts upon Americans. And by the way, send me your money!

YouTube Debate: What A Farce

Liberal media is touting tonight's so-called "debate" as "revolutionary", "inspired", and to quote the (unions killed our city) Detroit Free Press:

Yet, I live in hope that tonight's CNN/YouTube presidential debate (7 on CNN) will restore my faith -- or at least my interest level -- in unscripted democracy in action.

"Unscripted"? It is totally scripted, censored, filtered, and sanitized. Are these liberals totally brain dead or do they really think the American public is that STUPID?

I turned to CNN this morning and to quote CNN:

"We are going through the thousands of YouTube questions to pick those we feel reflect what's on the mind of Americans".

In other words, the whole thing is a sham. A farce. A deception. A lie in the face of Americans that is typical liberalism in action.

CNN will censor any tough or embarrassing questions. Expect the questions to be such liberal shit like (mostly young people) asking:

• Why can't my mom or dad have that operation then need just because we can't afford health insurance (yet they can afford computers, video cameras, cell phones, etc.)?
  
  
• The cost of my university attendance is going up, and if I have to get a job to help pay for the cost of my education then I won't be able to party as much as I'd like. We want more grants from the government. Can you abolish the student loan program?

Questions that will never make it on the air:

Someone thinks it's immoral to execute child molesters and killers, so make sure they get out of jail and inject them back into the communities of law-abiding citizens.

Someone thinks it's immoral to speak freely about some topic, so make a law against it and call it "hate crime".

Doctor Freedom

Doctor Jack Kevorkian was released from jail today. I call him Doctor Freedom because he provided terminally ill and suffering individuals with the freedom of choice - the choice to end their life with dignity.

The "Death with Dignity Act" permits doctors to prescribe a lethal drug dose but not administer it and established rules to ensure patients seeking assisted suicide are mentally competent, in great pain and intent on ending their lives. The Netherlands is the only country that allows freedom of choice as a nation.

Government has no right for force people to endure the physical and mental torture of some infliction they neither asked for nor wanted. I know there are groups that don't agree with this - and you are free to have your own opinion. When you or a loved one is in this situation you can deal with it however you want - but for someone that wishes to make this choice - BUTT OUT!

How dare some special interest group use BIG government to force their views upon society! How dare government strip an individual of their last chance for freedom, and the last change to make a choice of choosing their own destiny and time.

I happen to know for a fact that doctors often let people die and even help the process along when it comes to critical trauma, severe birth defects, and other scenarios you don't want to know about. The right of a patient to have a physician of their choice help in their case should be just that - their right, not a "right" of government to deny their freedom.

Wow, what a weekend for some liberal, wild, brain-dead whores - crazy man, uh crazy. Let's take a look at the warped minds of these DNA defects.

Liberal Cindy Sheehan, troubled that she didn't attain the sustained fame as the liberal looney icon, resigned from her post as queen anti-troop "mother". Her fallen son, who re-enlisted to go back to Iraq, would have disowned his mother for sure. In protest over the defeat of Cindy some of her liberal followers torched and vandalized flags on the graves of Veterans - some replaced with Swastikas (a favorite label of liberals to call freedom fighters "Hitler" and such).

Cindy Shithan will comeback - probably on one of the liberal stations like CNN, ABC, or CBS. There might even be a place for her on the reincarnated Air America.

Liberal Rosie O'Donnell, drooling fat ugly dike without a connected neuron to think with, also resigned from her post as dweeb on Disney's The View. There is nothing flowery about this Rosie - unless you want to liken her to some toxic weed. This is another liberal bitch that hates the troops, and referred to them as terrorists on The View earlier.

Rumors have it that Barbara Walters had a sexual encounter with O'Donnell earlier - talk about GROSS! Rosie's non-stop liberal retard raging rant has started a new term: "Rosio". Example usage: Hey, don't you go Rosio on me!

Liberal Hillary Clinton, always the morpher, finally spells out her eager socialist goal. I always have equated liberals with socialists and now momma-liberal has announced that America needs to replace the "on your own" society with the socialist "we're all in it together" society. In other words, do away with personal responsibility and increase government far beyond its already bloated state.

In the continued pursuit of bigger, more controlling, and oppressive government, Senator Kennedy, along with a couple of big government Republicans, have proposed legislation that will put the Federal government in control of your prescriptions. It will take away individual choices - even deny your access to critical medications!

If you don't already know the simple equation:

Less choices = Less freedom
More choices = Greater freedom

I don't mean the current doctor-required prescription to obtain a drug, but I mean the millions of people that depend on doctors and pharmacists that mixing certain drugs for people that have conditions where no over-the-counter drug exists. This legislation, once introduced and passed, will stop that practice by the people that know best - and replace it with one where the FDA will decide if you need a certain drug. Your personal medical needs - under the control of big government bureaucracy.

Like many BIG GOVERNMENT attempts to become bigger this proposed legislation, the Safe Drug Compounding Act of 2007, is presented as something in the interest of public safety. Hmmm - we seem to be hearing that phrased used more and more - from making new laws to control the people to raising taxes - "public safety". The people of the USA must see the reality of BIG GOVERNMENT - look beyond the marketing pitch - that is for our own good. Whether Republican or Democrat the promoters of BIG GOVERNMENT must be voted out of office in favor of whoever would support smaller government.

Fighting The Financial Terrorists

The well-fed sleepy face above is that of Faye Steward, one of the three Lane County Commissioners that tried to terrorize residents with a new income tax. Faye is an education flunky - he did complete high school, spent 1 term at Lane Community College and left - he couldn't handle it. He then thought he'd try a major in Business Management at Oregon State University - but it was too difficult for him to grasp and dropped out. No degree, no diploma, and no certificate in anything. No wonder this idiot can't balance a budget.

Yesterday voters stood up to the financial terrorists and voted by the largest margin against a county tax in Lane County. This was the 13th time the financial terrorists have tried - and failed - to coerce money from hard working people in Lane County.

Financial terrorist: A local or federal government that increases taxes or fees - another name for a tax - for the purpose of growing social services or activities that government has no business being involved in. In most all cases mismanagement of current funds are involved, and growingly - support of the illegal alien population.

These terrorists will stop at nothing to obtain more money from taxpayers - threats of reduced police protection, letting prisoners free, closing jails, "children will suffer", "elderly will suffer", etc.

Other Oregon financial terrorists have tried and failed yesterday, thanks to the will of the people sending their message loud and clear - dump the handout and social programs, dump the support of illegals, and stop your involvement in sectors that government has no business in.

Cuts? Expect Lane County to cut jobs that will punish the voters. Expect the social handout programs to stay, expect overpaid bureaucrats to stay and lower lever workers (the real workers) to be terminated. Expect handouts to illegals to remain (like English as a second language classes at LCC) while some police are let go.

Change for the better will not happen until we recall the idiots and replace them with business-minded and educated leaders.

Mandating Less Freedom

I'm really getting a bit pissed at the ever-increasing loss of freedom for citizens of the USA. Now when I talk about freedom I'm referring to freedom of choice for adults - and it is that freedom that continues to erode. Instead of asking if you are better off than you were 20 years ago you should ask if you feel you have more freedom of choice than you did in the past.

This post in not a rant on Democrats or liberals, so just read it before judging it. We all know most all Democrats favor big government, more taxes, bigger social handouts, and diluting the Constitution in favor of a "global rights" law.

Did you know Conservatives are just as guilty of your loss of freedom? The Bush Administration's choice for commissioner of the FDA wants to really sock it to Americans - and do so hard. FDA Docket No. 2006D-0480 would lead to:

• Growing and selling common garden herbs will get you arrested as a drug dealer
• Massage oils and handheld massagers will be regulated as "medical devices."
• Vegetable juice will be regulated as a drug
• Weight machines will be regulated as "medical devices" and require FDA approval before being sold or used
• Raw sprouts and other anti-cancer foods will be regulated as drugs
• Bottled water that "treats" dehydration will be regulated as a drug
• Massage therapists who use hot rocks as part of their therapy will have the ROCKS regulated as medical devices! (It's true. The FDA will actually look at a pile of rocks and declare, "Those are medical devices!")
• Foods, supplements, vitamins and homeopathic remedies will disappear from store shelves, pending FDA "review."
• Vitamin store owners will be arrested and prosecuted for "practicing medicine without a license."

Steps are in motion to recall Lane County Commissioner Bobby Green - one of three public enemy's that voted for a county income tax. Hopefully, Stewart and Dwyer will be next.

I wondered how I would lead Lane County if I, JustaDog, were elected to replace Bobby Green. Here is a partial view of my platform:

• No illegal aliens. Lane County will not be a sanctuary county. Any person found to be an illegal alien will be held for federal authorities. An invoice for rounding up these criminals would be presented to the federal government quarterly
• No loitering. If a person does not have a legal verified address they will be bused to Salem on a one-way ticket
• No panhandling. Panhandlers are conducting a business without a license. Conducting a business without a business license is illegal and the law will be enforced
• The county is not a bank - an end to loans and grants for businesses and special interest groups
• End of social handout programs. If the citizens of Lane County wish to help those that choose not to they are totally free to do so. Likewise, Lane County has no right to force allocation of taxpayer monies to any special interest group - no matter how "goodie goodie" they sound
• Increase the budget for law enforcement and prisons, not decrease it
• An end to "donating" taxpayer's money to "worthy" (special interest) groups. If people wish to support their favorite group they can do so with their own money. It's not right for County Commissioners to be generous with other people's money
• All state mandated social programs that set up shop in Lane County will be required to provide social services only to legal residents by identification recognized by the USA
• An end to small business grants and handouts. There are many resources that new and struggling businesses can turn to and Lane County residents should not have their precious tax dollars spent on such high-risk activities. If these business are unable to secure funds from traditional resources then it's all the more reason Lane County residents shouldn't
• We will be an English-only county. All Lane County signs, posters, etc. will be in English only
• Rural schools will be allowed to set up as Charter schools
• All schools that receive funding from Lane County will have all programs that are not directly related to the classroom terminated. For example, the taxpayer funded day care at Lane County Community College would be terminated. English as a second language (ESL) classes would be terminated or those attending will be required to pay the full price to compensate the cost of the class. All students must be legal residents
• All inmates will be billed for the full cost of their incarceration. This includes the use of the facilities, food, medical, dental, etc. If they cannot pay then they will have to work it off for the county for minimum wage - no exceptions
• Jails would be reserved for violent offenders. It makes no sense to jail someone accused of a victimless crime. These can be given a citation, pay a fee, do community service, etc.
• The taxpayer and legal residents of Lane County will be the priority, not any special interest group, not any union, and not a few county workers
• Any new roads will be made from concrete, not inferior asphalt. This will save the county much money in the long term. Planned obsolesces of roads must stop
• All construction costing over $10,000 will be put out for bid. Contractors would have to sign a "we use only legal labor" contract, be bonded, etc.
• All expenditures over $1,000 will be detailed to the public. There will be accountability. Paying off friends and neighbors (as is the practice now) as "consultants" or things like a $5,000 for a drug addict's hypo drop off box (made by some friend of a friend) will stop
• Any expenditure over $1,000,000 will require a vote by the citizens of Lane County

Just a few - I better stop or I just might run for office!

What Lane County Has In Store For Taxpayers

Foolish Democrats, always finding ways to rape the taxpayer and spend, spend, spend. Like the recent Democrats that proposed a plan to spend $36 Million dollars of taxpayer's money so every schoolchild in Michigan could have an IPod. Our Lane County in Oregon has big rape-and-spend nappy hoes here as well.

Keep in mind government will try and suck more taxpayer's dollars from us under the umbrella of "public safety". Also be aware these money-hungry liberals will threaten residents into fear of surrender. We must fight back!

Personal Income Tax - Page 24 - A Lane County personal income tax would tax income of residents, and possibly nonresidents', earned in Lane County. Estimated rape of resident's wallet/purse: $62.5 Million dollars.

Corporate Income Tax - Page 24 - A county corporate income tax would be a tax imposed on net corporate income earned within the county geographical boundary. Estimated rape of corporations: an additional $3 million over what they already get (passed on to customers), and citizens end up paying in the end!

Retail County Sales Tax - Page 25 - A county sales tax would be an excise tax on practically all retail sales of goods within the county boundaries. Estimated rape of individual's wallets/purses: $50 Million dollars.

Gross Receipts Tax - Page 25 - A gross receipts tax for Lane County would be similar to Washington's Business and Occupation (B&O) tax, which is imposed on business gross income, rather than on net income. Estimated rape on business: $22.7 Million dollars (passed on to customers), and citizens end up paying in the end!

Restaurant Tax - Page 26 - A county restaurant tax could be either a selective sales tax on each sales transaction for food and non-alchololic beverages sold in restaurants, or a tax levied on the gross receipts of restaurants. Estimated rape on all the little restaurants: $11.7 Million dollars (passed on to customers), and citizens end up paying in the end!

Business License Tax - Page 27 - A business license tax could be an annual fee imposed on any person, partnership, corporation or similar entity doing business in Lane County. Estimated rape of businesses: $2.4 Million dollars (passed on to customers), and citizens end up paying in the end!

Amusement & Entertainment Tax - Page 27 - An amusement/entertainment tax could be either an excise tax on sales price of admissions or entertainment service, or could be a selective gross receipts tax on those businesses engaged in the entertainment industry. (Movie theaters, video rentals, golf and mini golf, etc.). Estimated rape if you want to be entertained: over $570,000 (if UofO ticket sales are included), and citizens end up paying in the end!

Property Tax Options - Page 28 - Lane County is prohibited from increasing its own permanent tax rate to increase property tax revenues (thank God) into its General Fund. However, on property tax option is for the county to form a new service district with its own permanent tax rate. Estimated rape of property owners from scheme: $40.0 Million dollars (based on a new permanent rate authority by the formation of a public safety service district).

Don Imus - Ho Ho Ho

Maybe I'm out of touch with shock-jocks but I have to admit that prior to all this fuss about Don Imus - I've never heard of the guy! His picture looks familiar - like someone that might be seen on a Portland street corner, you know what I mean. So what's all the fuss about?

No, I'm not racist at all. I find it both funny and sad how public officials are reacting to Don Imus's remarks. On the funny side I'm sure it was just a shock jock just doing what he does - and he did. I've heard replays of his comments and I didn't hear him mention names, so it was a blanket statement. But the issue is a white male making a comment that some consider racist. Ah - racist - a favorite label to motivate, accuse, get sympathy, get money, etc.

I personally think it was not a very nice comment, but this is his right - at least for now. Evidently this guy does this type of talk radio as a habit. Knowing this, why would people even listen? Why do people listen to any shock jock? But to listen is their right, just like to be a shock jock is their right. While I don't endorse the comments made I have to stand up for free speech.

The sad part of all of this are all the media - from Lar Larson to Bill O'Reilly - is calling for the firing of Imus, and even government control of free speech that might be "offensive" to some special interest group. They are shaking in fear because unless they condemn Imus they will be labeled as racists. So instead of standing for the rights of the citizens they bow and submit to those that motivate with labels.

Don't like what you hear from a shock jock? Turn the radio station. Don't like someone's opinion? Turn off the power switch. I'm afraid that all the forced sympathy and forced feelings of guilt will result in BIG GOVERNMENT chopping away at free speech, imposing penalties or even jail time.

It's a time for Jessie Jackson to come out of the closet and wail of racism (and demand money be paid as atonement). It's a time for the media to play who can appear to be more sensitive. It's a time to puke.
